History of
Witches
Witchcraft can be traced back many centuries. At first, witchcraft was simply seen as a magical phenomenom that brought good luck, protection against disease, and many other things. Later on in history, around 1000 AD, witchcraft began to get a negative response from priests, Christians, and society. Witches were thought to be working under the Devil, therefore they went against the Church's beliefs. Those who were accused of being witches were burned to death and if someone pleaded innocent they were either stoned to death or thrown in water for a chance to prove their innocence.
